On the 8th of December 2011 Cabinet endorsed the proposal for the Council to produce a new Local Plan. The Local Plan will cover the period up to 2036 and, once adopted, will replace all current parts of the development plan, including the saved policies of the Core Strategy, Local Plan 1995 and Local Plan Alteration 2002.
The first steps towards producing the Local Plan will include working, with partners where applicable, on compiling an updated local evidence base. The evidence base will identify what growth will be needed and options for how that growth could be appropriately and sustainably accommodated.
An updated Local Development Scheme, which will outline the timetable for preparing and delivering the new local plan, will also be prepared and will be available shortly.
